SEBASTIAN COUNTY ASSESSOR

The Assessor maintains property ownership records and is required to list all property in the county with proper legal descriptions. The Assessor prepares splits and combinations and assigns new parcel numbers to property. The Assessor is also responsible for assessing all vehicles and businesses, as well as manufacturing companies’ furniture, fixtures, equipment, and inventories.

These must be turned into the Assessor’s office by May 31st each year or a 10% penalty will be applied by the state.

FILING DEADLINES

  • Personal Property and Business Personal Property must be assessed between January 1 and May 31 of the current year.
  • Real Estate is automatically assessed as of January 1 of the current year.
  • Homestead filing deadline is October 15 for the current taxes payable. Once you have filed, you do NOT have to re-file as long as you live in the same residence. If you move, you must file a new homestead on your new residence.
  • Appeals with the County Equalization Board deadline is the third Monday in August each year. The Equalization Board will hear appeals for the current tax year, payable the following year. In Arkansas, the taxes payable in any year are the previous year's assessment.
